A total of 1,721,990 passengers flew in and out of Wichita Eisenhower National Airport in 2023, making it the second busiest year on record. The record year occurred in 2019 with 1,749,906 total passengers. Compared to December 2022, passengers increased 12.58%, and for the year, total passengers increased 12.18% over 2022.
The growth in demand is instrumental in our ability to attract more air service. Many thanks to the passengers who flew in and out of ICT.
Airlines continued to add back capacity into our market with larger aircraft. Seats increased 11% over 2022 while flights increased 6%. Aircraft are getting larger. Flights operated by large regional jets (65+ seats) increased 79% in 2023 while small regional jets (50 seats or less) decreased 32%. Narrowbody aircraft remained unchanged.
Total air cargo tonnage was down 7.02% from last December. For the year, air cargo tonnage dropped 11.84%.
For the year, concession revenue from food and gifts increased 16.16%, rental cars increased 2.14%, and parking revenue increased 17.94%.
