- Travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. These are slow travel days and airlines typically discount fares to fill seats.
- Book your trip during the off-peak season – January, February, August – October. Fares are higher during spring break, summer, and the holiday season.
- How far ahead should you book a flight? There are a variety of opinions on this topic. Most experts recommend that you book your flight at least 3 weeks before departure for domestic flights, and 6 – 10 weeks for international flights. However, if you do plan to travel for the holidays, book your flights two to five months in advance.
- Not all booking engines advertise fares on all airlines. Use our Route Mapper to find all your options to your destination. Then, go to the airline’s website for fares and schedules.
