September 2022 hit a new enplanement record at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport. For the month, 69,718 people flew out of ICT, an increase of 19.75% over last September, and beat the former record set in September 2019 by 1,235 enplanements. Total passengers were 135,630, an increase of 16.41%. For the year, total passengers are up 23.28%. To date, enplanements are at 86% of 2019 levels.
There were 2.2% more flights and 11% more seats than last year. Seats on narrowbody aircraft increased 36%, large regional jets (70+ seats) increased 28%, and small regional jets (50-seats) decreased 29%. There were 30 average weekday departures in September compared to 28 last year.
Air cargo was relatively flat for the month, and for the year is down 3.79%. Year-to-date, however, outbound air cargo is outpacing inbound air cargo.
Concession revenue showed sizeable gains. Food and gift receipts were up 26%, rental cars up 24%, and parking up 29%.
