Mark your calendars for this fall’s schedule of Kansas Honor Flights. If you’ve never been to the airport to celebrate these wonderful veterans, you don’t know what you’re missing. Bring your kids; you’ll have an opportunity to visit with the veterans and learn what they did and how they served our country. It’s a very patriotic, moving, and wonderful celebration. Southwest Airlines flies these veterans to Washington, DC where they visit the World War II Memorial, the Korean Veterans Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, the Navy Memorial, Air Force Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial. Additionally, the group tours the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Ft. McHenry, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The flights leave on Wednesdays and return on Fridays at 11:55 am. If you come out for the celebration, free parking is available at the Close-In lot from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.
