Passenger traffic at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport increased 103% in August over the previous year. A total of 124,482 passengers flew in and out of ICT in August compared to 61,406 in August 2020. Year-to-date, total passengers have increased 53.53%.
ICT is outpacing the U.S. in recovery. Through August, ICT’s enplanements were 84% of August 2019. In the U.S., enplanements were at 77% of 2019.
Food and gift revenue increased 126%, rental car revenue increased 97.6% and parking increased 179.75%.
Air cargo increased 1.51% and for the year is up 12.25%.

Looking Ahead
Southwest will resume daily flights to Phoenix in November. Southwest will also offer Saturday and Sunday flights to Las Vegas. In addition, Southwest will continue with one daily flight to St. Louis and Denver, giving Wichita 4 nonstop destinations.
Alaska has taken out Saturday service to Seattle in November and December, as well as Tuesdays in December. The reduction is due to labor shortages.
United has added a 126-seat Airbus 319 on the 8:00 am flight to Chicago.
The airlines are anticipating a strong holiday travel season and have increased capacity each month through December. December seats will only be 5% less than December 2019.
