Wichita Mid-Continent Airport has upgraded the technology used to provide accurate airline flight arrival and departure information on its website, www.flywichita.com. The airport contracted with FlightView, the recognized provider of accurate, real-time flight information systems, to provide the upgrades. Flight arrival and departure status is now automatically updated using radar data directly from the FAA, thereby removing the need for manual updates. FlightView’s system imports and combines data feeds from various sources including airlines, airports, schedule providers and weather providers, and incorporates the combined feed into the schedules and flight tracking map in order to provide the most accurate flight information available.
This content includes real-time flight and weather information that is easily understood. Users are able to view the operating airline, flight number, departing /arriving airport, scheduled departure/arrival times, actual departure/arrival times, and current status. In addition, users are able to click on the status of a flight and view more detailed information pertaining to the flight, including an in-air tracker map on another tab.
Mid-Continent Airport’s first mobile website is optimized for all major mobile platforms, including Android, iPhone and Blackberry Smartphones. It offers customers a user-friendly experience that delivers the travel information they need most with a clean, uncluttered look that is easy to navigate. The mobile content provides timely flight information, and offers a quick and easy access to pertinent airport information, such as parking, ground transportation, directions to Mid-Continent Airport, food and beverage and retail concessions, and airport services. For visitors to Wichita, there are links to nearby lodging information and to Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“We’re committed to enhancing the overall customer service experience for our passengers and guests. Our customers live in a mobile world, and providing a mobile website and fast access via the Internet to accurate flight and airport information are some of the best services an airport can provide, and it’s what our customers have come to expect,” said Victor White, Director of Airports.
