According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Wichita’s Q4 2019 average inflation-adjusted itinerary fare was $396.01, an increase of 1% from Q4 2018, and a 35% decrease from Q4 2000. Wichita had some of the highest airfares in the nation prior to 2002. About 44% of our passengers were driving to other airports in the region for lower fares. Our most recent study now shows 18% of passengers use other airports. Low-fare airlines started to enter our market in 2002 and passengers responded. Wichita’s fare is comparable to fares in our region.
