A photograph of Wichitans Dustin and Kendra Garrels kayaking in New Zealand while on their honeymoon was awarded the grand prize in Wichita Mid-Continent Airport’s “Adventures Are a Breeze” photo contest. The Garrels win airline tickets for two from Wichita to any location in the continental United States.
The Garrels’ winning photo, along with other contest finalists, can be seen in a slide show on the airport’s newly redesigned website: www.flywichita.com. The slide show will be updated each month with photos from the contest and others submitted by Mid-Continent passengers. More than 700 photos were submitted during the contest, which ran from March 1 through March 28, 2010. The contest was judged by contest sponsor representatives from Mid-Continent Airport, KAKE-TV, KFDI Radio and Armstrong|Shank Advertising.
“We were blown away by the quantity and the quality of photos submitted,” said Valerie Wise, Air Service and Business Development Manager for Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. “Our goal is to engage the traveling public so they identify with Mid-Continent as their airport. It only makes sense that their airport’s website be dedicated to our passengers where they can display photos of their trips that started at ICT. We’re very pleased with the results and the photos prove you can definitely see the world from Mid-Continent.”
Travelers are encouraged to continue submitting their photos to the website. Select photos will be shown each month on the flywichita.com home page and all photos submitted can be reviewed on the airport’s Facebook fan page.
The new website was designed by Armstrong|Shank Advertising Marketing Public Relations and Interactive.
