Costa Rica is located in the heart of Central America, bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. San José’s temperature is pleasant year-round because of its relatively high elevation—3,839 feet. The rainy season runs from May to November.

An estimated 5 million birds migrate through Costa Rica every year. It’s a birdwatcher’s paradise. You will also see massive sea turtles, colorful frogs, and crocodiles. In its deep blue womb, Costa Rica shelters more than 6,700 marine species, 90 of which are unique on the planet.
The Pacific coast contains major tourism centers and beaches that are favorites among surfers, including Esterillos, Jacó, Hermosa, Boca Barranca, as well as the Pavones Sector and the surroundings of the Marino Ballena National Park, with its famous long left wave.
Near the beach areas you will find a wide variety of options to stay and taste Costa Rican cuisine. Costa Rica will welcome all U.S. citizens beginning Nov. 1. Costa Rica no longer requires visitors to submit a negative COVID-19 test taken less than 72 hours before their visit. However, visitors are required to purchase medical insurance to cover any possible coronavirus-related costs they may incur and complete health pass forms, according to the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica website.
