Passenger traffic in August increased 4.7% over August 2009, with 138,805 total passengers, an increase of 6,283 passengers. For the year, passenger traffic is up 2.17%. This compares to an increase of 1.4% for U.S. domestic traffic through June (the most recent data available).
Average air fares at Wichita for the first quarter of 2010 declined .9% from first quarter 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics. However, average domestic air fares increased 4.7% for the same time period. Wichita’s average air fare of $340.95 is 21.8% less than it was in 2001, when the average fare was $436.15.
